We Are What We Build
I remember hearing stories of some of my Ancestors who had come and gone long before I arrived. Some were miserable, some were bitter, and some were anxious and filled with worry.
I learned that many of these traits were carried over from one generation to the next and spanned so many that no one even remembered how far back it went.
In a way, I was comforted by these stories. It meant that some of the weight we carry isn’t all ours, and sometimes the lessons don’t start with us.
Some of it started with our Ancestors, well before our time, who unknowingly created and fortified those neural pathways responsible for certain thoughts, feelings, and habits; both good and bad.
Our brains are amazing adaptors, built to be as efficient as possible.
What our consciousness focuses on, our brains create shortcuts to it, so that the next time we focus on it, we get to it faster with less energy output.
Whether it’s a thought, feeling, or habit, the more its repeated, the better we are at doing it.
Which means, not only are we what we build, but we are also what our Ancestors built, biologically, mentally, and spiritually.
It also means that not only are we what we build, but our descendants are as well.
So, what do we do?
We build with a conscious awareness of our Ancestors behind us and the responsibility of our Descendants before us.
We build with a power that is already within each and every one of us.
When we look at a tree, we see there is great power in a tree, but the real power lies in the seed.
There is more power in the exact moment where the potential, the possible, collide with every point of time there ever was and ever will be.
It is the purest, most powerful moment where everything starts-every idea, life, everything written, said or built starts as a new pure seed bursting forth anew.
We build with intention; thought by thought, habit by habit.
How do we build differently?
I’ll give you a hint….
It’s a simple formula…….stay tuned!
