Don’t Change your Job; Change your Perspective
The world today moves faster than ever imagined and for many, our jobs move just as fast.
These days we have so much technology taking in immense amounts of data, all to say less people are needed to complete whatever required amount of work it forecasts.
This leaves us struggling to evolve our skills in order to increase the quantity of output, while maintaining its quality.
Where there is struggle, there is stress.
So what do you do? Change your job?
Instead, change your perspective.
Focus on the forest; not the trees:
- What is the bigger purpose of your work?
- What bigger need does your job fulfill?
- Does your work make someone else’s easier, or allow someone to feel valued, seen?
Life is by no means an easy calling, nor is it simple.
Trying to find one’s purpose in our ever changing jobs can be even more complicated.
We, as people, tend to overcomplicate both.
Purpose is found in the cashier at your local grocery store who prides themself on brightening their customer’s day, in spite of whatever pain, loss, or loneliness the customer is immersed in.
It is found in the 5th generation farmer, whose rhythm and cadence is in perfect harmony to the moon’s, the seasons’, and time itself.
It is found in teachers, equipping the next generation with the knowledge and skills needed to not only flourish in society, but for society itself to flourish.
Purpose is found in all professions and all walks of life.
It’s time to change your perspective and find yours.
